126 Years of Rich History

The Tournament started in 1883 at Hurts Hall in Saxmundham, moving to Framlingham College in 1914.

We have had several players who went on to be runners up at Wimbledon, including our President, Christine Janes.

Bunny Austin - got to the Wimbledon Final in 1938. He cut his teeth on the courts here as this photo shows - winning our singles in 1926.

So did:

- H L Doherty - who in 1898 was in the Wimbledon Final (having won our singles in 1897)

- Herbert Roper-Barrett  - was in the 1911 Wimbledon Final (having won our singles in 1898). He also went on to become the Davis Cup Captain.

- Randolph Lyncett -  was the Wimbledon runner up in 1922 and won our singles the same year.
