Suffolk Tennis Tournament through to the final of the LTA National Awards

Framlingham Tennis Tournament has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the LTA National Tennis Awards, ‘Competition of the Year 2023.’

Having already been crowned County and Regional Award Winners, the Framlingham tournament is now through to the finals.

Commenting on the success, Framlingham Tennis Tournament Chairman, Jeremy Scowsill said: “We are very proud to have been nominated as finalists in the category of ‘Competition of the Year’ at the 2023 National LTA awards. Having won both the County and Regional nominations we are very much looking to the 4th of July when the winner of this very prestigious award will be selected from the final three. My thanks go to our Patrons, Sponsors, Framlingham College, and all those wonderful committee members who put in hours of hard work to keep this historic tournament running. We are the 2nd oldest tournament in the UK behind Wimbledon as we look forward to our 129th event in August this year.”

The ultimate winners will be revealed at a ceremony on 4th July at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton which will also mark the achievements of the elite players.

Sandi Procter, overseeing the awards in her first year as President of the LTA, said: “I’ve always loved my involvement in grassroots tennis, and I am passionate about supporting and recognising the vast community of volunteers and coaches.

“The LTA Tennis Awards are a real celebration of the people that make our sport thrive. They highlight the achievements made by outstanding volunteers, coaches, officials, venues and players, who are all vital in helping us to grow the game and drive participation.”

The LTA Tennis Awards were first launched in 2015 with the help of former LTA President Cathie Sabin OBE.
